Default Cheap rocker panel fix?

Well.. the day has come the rocker panels rusted out so I started cutting, was wondering whats a good way to fix them on the low. Dont really need steel tubing. Plus i dont know how to weld

Anyway, was looking at those rocker panels to buy that fit over the old ones i believe. Has anyone tried those? Seems like a good fix and cheap.

Was thinking to put them over and use rivets to install them, what do you guys think?

If the rocker panels are gone the floor pan won't be far behind.

Riveting a cover over the rust is like putting a bandaid on a cut that needs stitches.

Hmm alright, but that part will do right? Just weld it instead of riveting.

You requested cheap/on the low fix.
A good roll of duct tape.
Sand off the rust.
Apply a couple of layers.
You can spray bomb over with your favourite colour.
Will last the summer.
Start watching welding learning footage on the U Tube. Look at a moderate welder investment. Don't waste money on a cheap 100 dollar welder. You will need to spend a few hundred on the welder and a good helmet.
Then as the duct tape is falling out, you will be ready to install the steel tube rocker rails.

I am seeing more rust holes on the inner rocker panel too, the cover-up piece wont fix that.

Way up here in Canada an inner and outer rocker panel cost about $100 per side. My inner panels were good above the bend, but the outer had been covered and rotted out even more. The cheap fix for me was the 2x6x3/16 steel tubing rockers. All the steel and the welding wire cost me just shy of $100 to do both sides and I know the 3/16" steel with last a lot longer than the the replacement rocker panel.

Owning a welder and being able to weld a reasonable bead helps though.

Look up 2x6 rocker sliders,Its the same amount of work and around the same price. You get rock sliders and you don't lose any ground clearance.

yeah well the 2x6 or 2x8 is what i would like to do but considering I dont have too much free time and its my daily driver I will just use the new rocker panels and have it welded in. At least for now, it will do.
