Default cheap diy upgrade questions

alright so im already planning on making my own cai, although i dont know what type of tubeing to use, aluminum, exhaust pipe, or some kind of ceramic?

also i say this thing called a GF performance chip, it claims up to 60hp gain, 4-7mpg gain and only cost $70, heres the website
http://www.gfchips.com/jeepcherokee.aspx

i know i wont get 60 more hp but wondering if you think its worth getting at all?

Those chips are a complete waste of money. for a cai, anything would work, auto stores sell cai tubing that u can use.

That "chip" is a $0.15 resistor that causes more harm then good.

something to up the hp or torque. maybe an inch or two lift, im not sure about lift though, i want to but my parents for some reason dont like me messing with my jeep. oh and if theres a way to make the exhaust better, although im sure that cant happen very cheap.

Well there arent really alot to do to get more hp from an xj, but u can get about 20 more hp, by going with a high performance ignition, cai, bored throttle body, headers, cat back exhaust, injectors, and a programmer such as a jet chip, or for a lot more a stroker or boost it. Getting hp isnt the cheapest thing to do to an xj. But u can make a simple cai, and if u just want a bit louder exhuast cut out the old muffler and clamp on a cherry bomb or something, injectors are also pretty cheap and easy
