Center Console Arm Rest Latch Lid for 1997 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ New | eBay
I'll keep an eye out for a deal. The one you liked was $9.99 + $15 shipping.

Good to know you got one recently for under $10. I'll buy several if/ when they're available.

Its a sad day when they respond to a common broken American Jeep part in Hong Kong. As things wear out, this American Jeep is becoming more and more Chinese

A little piece of metal I bent with a vice and bench grinded it and drilled a hole in the middle and a small one in the plastic and threaded a small screw in the plastic

I removed the top, cleaned out the bucket, and lined mine with rigger's tape. It is now without a lid and the tape it's OD green; i like the look.

Default Latch

Has anyone ever looked into having the latch printed in metal on a 3D printer?

Metal ones are already made. On eBay the metal latches are $30+.

Old post, but I may add that I believe it helps to modify the hole where the latch goes into. File that with an angle to match that of the latch so it takes less effort for it to latch. Also, ensure that your console lid is aligned properly. I never broke a plastic one, but I am more gentle with stuff like this than the average person. There's the type of person that puts the blower fan on high and leaves it there for days at a time as well as those who leave the wipers on high when it is sprinkling. They're just the type who will try slamming a console lid closed when it doesn't go gently.

I hear that... except I'm the type of person to put the pedal to the floor for days at a time, or when I'm sitting in traffic... Hahaha.

It is pretty ridiculous that replacements are $30 or so these days. For what, $0.87 worth of metal, or $0.02 cents worth of plastic...???
