I'm hoping to make this a thread that will be used by many others as reference. Point is I've looked all over the Internet and just can't seem to find a place I'd like to mount my CB head unit. Let's see where you all have yours mounted and how you have them mounted!

I placed mine in the typical spot, to the right of the console. Have you thought about an overhead console with CB? that's what I originally wanted to do but did not want to mess with the head liner.

Mine is sturdy enough. The console is only 1/8" plastic. But I haven't had any complaints. But I guess it would really depend on how big your CB is. Mines pretty small I think it's only 7" wide and about 2" thick.

I use a remote unit Cobra under a $100 new a very small box about 2x3" mounts to the inside firewall behind dash. Then all you hook to it is a 12v supply, antenna, mic with all controls and if desired an external speaker (not needed in mine). This is the cleanest install there is for a CB radio where everything on the mic including a speaker. The other photo is one of my Amateur radios mounted on a Lido mount that sits under a seat bolt using a U shaped on the mount and a flexible arm.

I mounted mine in between the visors using the screws that hold the visor clips. Just welded a strip of 1" x 1/8 flat steel to the mounting bracket it came with. Pretty easy. Very sturdy. Speaker is actually pointing so you can hear it decently. The cobras are nice but they are known for having their cords go bad. My father's lasted about 5 years and then he had to buy a whole new handheld (cobra wants 90$), uncle's lasted about 4. Most of the others are universal/dirt cheap. That and the fact that I got mine (Uniden PRO510XL) for 17 bucks NIB via CL are why I didn't go that route.
