MODS...if this isn't in the correct section, please move it.
Anyway my 90 xj has a provision for a cb antenna on the rt rear quarter panel.its just forward of the tailight and even with the top of the tailight.
What's a good length for a cb antenna and what's a good brand? I'm currently looking at a 36 inch fiberglass unit but am unsure if that's long enough or what. Any suggestions are appreciated.

36" of a good quality one should work fine. Go to a truck stop, if anyone knows CBs its those guys and the advice is invaluable.
However i would like to comment on the placement of the CB mount. I'd suggest you drill a hole in your bumper just below the rear light and mount it there on the spring holder. I have stripped every XJ in my local upull from replacing tail lights and i havent had end caps since my first trip out. Ofcourse it depends how tight the trails are and how "ahh screw it, just hammer it" you are on the trails but I know one of those side mount ones with me behind the wheel would only last until i got to the trail head. lol

You could also get a 102" whip plus a 6" spring. That puts the antenna at 108" which is 1/4 wave for CB. No tuning will be neccesary.
