Default Catalytic Converter Question

Has anyone eliminated their catalytic converter for off road use only? If so, what needs to happen with the O2 sensor and its wiring harness?

The engine needs that info to run properly. Plus you're borderline on having this thread closed due to the nature of the question. Maybe they'll let it slide cause you mentioned off road use only.

Honestly the 4.0L runs a lot better and more
Efficiently with a good catalytic converter. When I did my exhaust I discovered my cat had nothing inside, so I had a new one installed and the jeep runs noticeably better, and my fuel economy went up.

Mine hasnt had one on it since I got it and it consistently got between 22-24 mpg. I think depending on what year it is it makes the difference. The only way I could see it making it run worse is the engine needs some sort of back pressure. So I wouldn't run without any type of restriction. But the fact that the cat is after all the emissions sensors, There really isn't any way it could effect the way the jeep runs. Its only job is to burn up any waste gases that are created in combustion. But you do need some back pressure though. Mine only has a dynomax muffler and has been that way for some time Its runs great.

Read the rules.

Discussion of removal of the catalytic converter is strictly forbidden.

I dont care what year, if its trail use only, or any other excuses. Its not permitted.

Period.
