Default Can we put in a different (jk 2006) fuel pump on the xj ?

Hi I'm new here and I got a few questions. Ok I've been wondering about this, genright has this item http://www.genright.com/ProductInfo....ductid=APR1000 . And amazon has this Bosch 67756 for a 2006 wrangler. I wonder if we can adapt the wrangler pump on an xj.is that possible to make a mod like this? If anyone has any toughts on this please exllaj. why or why not can be done.

My question is, why do you want to do this?

It also states "not for highway use".

I actually just bought this for my 97zj limited. I am running a fuel cell and this will package everything nicer I hope. My pump and regulator are all on that sending unit. I know the sending units are the same from a zj/tj/Xj as far as the ring according to the dealer when I got a new ring for the adapter. As far as the pumps on the sending units i dont know. The jk sending unit is a different style according to the genright guy. He also said the reason its not street legal is because you are modifying the fuel tank. As far as your swap as long as the pump has what you need or more to the regulator it should be fine. The engine doesn't care how it gets there.

kinda seems as practical as putting 40" tires on a stock jeep... is it really necessary? stock fuel pumps do the job just fine.. considering most the jeeps i've owned had original fuel pumps at over 200k miles... Don't over complicate something that doesn't need to be complicated.

If your having fuel pump problems its a few things like cheap gas or letting it run tell empty before filling up.Letting it run that low on gas is not good the gas cools the pump a little and its sucking up the gunk in the bottom of the tank.Or its using a cheapo none name brand pump those will not last as long as a good name brand pump.I wouldn't even try that kit on a used gas tank you have to cut and drill on the tank.Unless you fully cleaned the tank out and let it set a week to let the vapors out.
