Talking

Manufacture claims 30-35hp on cam alone. Who am I to argue? lol. I'm sure they test these things. But, again, if I get that with the head and cam combo. I'll be happy.

In life, the glass is half full not not half empty.

Truth in advertising? Manufactures don't lie?

The stock cam makes 150 peak rwhp at 4900rpm and at 5000rpm fall flat on it's face barely making 110rwhp.
Now if a performance cam makes 150peak rwhp at 5000rpm and falls off to 110 at 5100rpm, See it make 40 more hp!! (small print at 5000rpm than stock). There is your truth used by the manufactures.

I can see where this thread is going. Not going to be baited.

My age is below. Not my first rodeo in life. Yes, people lie. Honestly? I don't care. For me, the fun is in the build. If I gained zero hp from it. Oh well. I know I will, but if not. I am ok with it. Just FYI.

I did check out your R.R and the research I found shows a 8-10hp gain per dyno. Little low for me. Thank you for posting an option. I checked out your SC you added. The research I did showed a 40hp gain (per Ford manufacture) adding not many got it to work, I didn't want to go there neither. The head and cam seems to me a direction I want to go. Thanks for your feedback Marty. Have a good one.

The manufactures already have you on the hook, line and sinker. Don't buy the hype.
Why would you do something and gain zero from it and be OK with that?

Last non-related post from you I will reply to. Getting off topic Marty. I don't want to argue with you.

Here is your answer. I can afford to, It's my money. But we both know, I will gain HP from it.

Happy holidays.

Look at the important values--

Advertise Intake duration
Advertise Exhaust duration
Intake duration at 0.050" lift
Exhaust duration at 0.050" lift
Valve overlap degrees
lobe separation angle degrees
Intake centerline angle degrees

Some cam facts--

-more duration just moves the powerband higher in the rpm range
-more lift doesn't always equal more flow, if the head and intake manifold don't flow, more lift won't do it either
-stock 4.0 valve springs will coil bind at much over 0.450"
-heavier valve springs will flatten 4.0 cam lobes and dish the lifter surface
-at 5400rpm there is a 'harmonic' problem with the cam and will break things
-high valve overlap just lets the intake charge flow out the exhaust
-narrow lobe center and intake centerline will lower idle vacuum and play havoc with MAP sensor based efi systems like on the jeep, poor idle quality, work OK on carb systems

So what do I like?

-stock 4.0 96-04 with stock springs and 1.7 roller rockers
-compcams 200-4 with 1.7 rockers, 231 and 232 with mopar performance springs for 4.0
-hesco 264 about the max duration can run with reasonable trail manners
-isky 133125
-lunati 63500 but almost too much lift, springs will be an issue
-Mopar p4529228 and 29 a favorite except narrow centerline/separation #'s
-505's too much duration, lift, overlap, will work great in dragster not trail

Surprisingly the exhaust is not the problem. That cam choice has maybe a bit much exhaust duration. You want the exhaust flow about 80% of the intake. That crane cam looks very similar to the 231 CompCam(little more intake and little less exhaust).

That is stock cam lift not duration.

For the 231 cam-
Intake Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.462 in. Exhaust Valve Lift with Factory Rocker Arm Ratio: 0.485 in.
