I didn't want a tank in the cargo area. This system takes up zero room inside the Jeep

Ok you made my mind up for me.ill be doing this for sure because of the 100%duty cycle and it running power tools.i have a small tank it actually a dryer tank from the air compressers at my work.do you think it would work?i poured out the little white ***** that soak up moisture.and there is rust inside.it has like three threaded hole in it and a drain plug in the bottom.its only about 1gallon.

I don't see why not. You would need to plug up the inlet and outlet somehow. The pressure in a closed A/C system is much higher than you will be using it as an Air Compressor.

I would pressure test that dryer tank in a safe way before you use it. Low side pressures are around 50psi, which is where your tank would be. I would imagine there is a big safety margin built in, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Pretty much actually. Run a long air hose to it and put it behind something sturdy. Then fill it to whatever your going to max it out at.

Thumbs up

Thanks for this post. I am thinking of doing this on my grand. But I'm going to keep the a/c and mount a second compressor somewhere for on board air.

Yes you can. It will flow more air at a higher psi than just about every garage compressor.

question I've got some really good 1/4 Goodyear 300 psi hose. would this restrict the flow of using impacts and air tools. should I go buy 3/8 instead.and have you seen the compresor ports like this?

You definitely need 3/8" for impact tools. make a huge difference.

Just a piece of advice after building and running the A/C to OBA setup, the output line off the compressor does way better if you leave as much of the rubber hose as you can afford. Those metal lines that you are using are going to get crazy hot. I tired running mine this way at first and ended up going back to the rubber hose from the factory on the outlet just cause it handled the heat a lot better. Other then that it looks to me like you have a really good setup going here. Where are you planning on mounting your tank at?
