Default Bushwacker Flares = ? Increased Tire Size

Howdy Folks,
96 XJ with RE 3.5 lift currently running Pro Comp wheels and 31" tires. Looking at adding Bushwacker Flat Flares and I wanted to ask if anyone could tell me how much extra clearance the flares will give?

Welcome to the site Crash Often !

Hope the user name doesn't imply what's ahead for the XJ ! I will also be watching this Question because I want to install flat flares and 35'' tires on mine before spring

You will get more clearance in the front then the rear. Reason being is there is a pinch seam you cant cut through in the rear. If your wheels are around a 4.25 offset, they will tuck nicely. Here is when I did mine. Everything below the sharpy line got cut off.

Thanks for the welcome brother. Yeah Crash Often comes from my dirt bike talent, lol. Hopefully doesn't stay the same with 4 wheelers. Appreciate your build thread some good info there. Looks like you can get a couple inches of clearance out of those flares but I hope someone that has done it can chime in to confirm.

Thanks for the info. Is that pinch weld near the rear doors? What size lift and tires are you clearing?

The pinch seam runs all around the wheel well. There really isnt much that you will cut off the rear. Its more about making some slices and folding them over with a hammer. The lift was the same as yours. RE 3.5" with 31s but I was on 3.75" back spacing wheels. They would rub a hair at full bump.

I'm on ~3.5" of lift. 33's and bushwacker flat flares. 4.5" backspacing on my wheels and they tuck right into the wells in the rear. Rear is probably 4" of lift. I can snap a pic for ya later

Not my rig, just trying to help a brother out and saw the video in my own research for my build. I'm now jonesing for some flares after installing 15X10's. Check out the build page when you get the chance.

Whats your thoughts on power delivery or gas mileage going from 31's to 33's? I was concerned going from 28 to 31 but truly I can still cruise at 75 on the freeway no problem. Might take a bit more to get the but no biggie.
