Question Building A HP D30, What Parts & Brands?

Will be picking up a Hp D30 to build up for my future swap this winter when i go to install a lift. I plan to run 6-8" of lift and 35" boggers. Needs to be strong enough to operate in any terrain and I'm smart enough not to use a stupid amount of throttle when twisted up.

I know in general what parts need to be installed gears, alloy shafts, better u-joints, locker, etc.. Ive been researching but there are so many companies its hard to know who to go with. I'm looking for good parts but also at a good price. Good warranties and preferably American made.

I'm looking for users first hand experience on their parts and what they recommend. Will be using factory parts as trail spares so plan to stay at factory spline count.

super 30 kits are usually the cheapest way to go. companies like Rustys offroad offer them. come with shafts and locker of your choice ect.

I can see where its a good package but that will force me to have to by spare 30 spline shafts which will increase my cost. Also i haven't seen a super 30 kit that doesn't use the arb air locker. I'm guessing no one else makes a 30 spline locker. Rusty's doesn't say anything about brand of their shafts or warranty.

I went with 30 spline inner shafts, with 27 spline outer shafts and a Detroit E-Locker. 4.88 Nitro ring & pinion, and shafts with 760 u-joints, should be good for 35s if brain is engaged when driving.

I went with Detroit E-Lockers because I've had Detroit lockers and they were bullet proof. They cost less than the ARBs and I didn't have to worry about air leaks or pluming in an air compressor.

Hmmm just curious what makes the shaft so much stronger having 3 extra splines if shaft size is the same? Or are 30 spline shafts larger diameter? How do you like the nitro gears and shafts? I had never heard of nitro till recently.

The shaft diameter isn't the same. I'm not 100% sure here but I think the 27 spline shafts are 1.18 inches in diameter, while the 30 spline shafts are 1.31 inches in diameter.

Same here, bullet proof. I don't know if the E-Locker is as bullet proof as the Detroit locker, but I do know that they build good products that work, and no messing with air lines and O rings.
