Default Broken Spider Gear Question

So I recently bought a d30 and 8.25 from a part out....been getting them ready to swap but when I pulled the rear cover there was a tooth stuck to the magnet....spun the carrier around and found a spider with a missing tooth and a chipped one next to it.....so my question is...would this be caused by something else in the rear or if I just throw a lunchbox in will it be good? Thanks

Check all your ring gear bolts, but keep in mind that they are left hand thread.
Perfect time for an upgrade. Drop a lunch box locker in it.

All the ring gear bolts are tight and there is no damage to ring or pinion, and all bearings are smooth....so I should be good to just throw a lunchbox in right?

frank, are u sure it's left hand? I removed R&P from a d30 and a c8.25 and they were right handed.

Was your purchase of these differentials for the gears you wanted to run? I see you have a 99 and it has the HPD30 and 29 spline 8.25 stock.

If not now would be the right time for a gear change to match what tires you plan on running now or the near future.

Well I have 3.07 now and the ones. I bought were 3.55 don't have time or money to reheat just yet so I figured this will do for now that way once I swap this in I can use my old axles to regear on the side when I get the chance
