Default brake caliper piston stuck, any ideas?

i gathered some parts to eventually do the zj disc upgrade, and I could only find a pretty (c)rusty zj that has seen better days, so I thought I'd give it a try

calipers had a lot of rust but after a night of evaporust, they look pretty good. i removed the rubber boot and put in some penetrating lube around the piston, but even with compressed air it wouldn't budge.

by using a punch and hammer I'm able to slowly get it back inside (c-clamp didn't work), but my goal is to clean everything so at this point is there anything I can do or I should put my effort elsewhere? i'm in no hurry and I don't have 600$ for a kit, I'd rather piece it together and do it in a couple of years.

I thought about some kind of slide hammer but I don't have access to one right now.

cheers

yeah I already tried, on youtube people said around 25psi should do the trick, and I went up to 50psi. I drained the brake fluid that was inside before doing it though, not sure if it has an impact.

Use those crusty calipers as cores and get a pair of reman calipers, they're not very expensive.

yeah that was my next option. if they end up giving me a core charge similar to what I paid at the JY I'll probably do that. they have a 30 day money back, so I'll shop around and see what I find. i have a hard time finding backing plates that are not rusted through though, so I might check into the liberty disc swap..

thanks!

Have my ZJ Discs already to install but have not looked, are you sure they are not screw in pistons?? I am not sure, but I will never forget my first rear discs on a Subaru Brat 30 years ago that I pounded on thinking they were stuck, only to realize they screwed in with a tool....

Rear ZJ calipers are not the screw in type, the parking brake is inside the rotor and uses shoes.
