Default Which Brake Booster and Master Cylinder

So the brakes on my 90' XJ are horrible. I've been reading on here that I can put a master cylinder and booster off a 95-96 xj and it will almost double my braking power. Well yesterday I went down to my friendly Car Quest and ordered both for a 96 Cherokee. After a 10 minute argument about how a cherokee and Grand Cherokee are not the same thing he finally ordered them. Well they came in today and he's telling me the booster is for a 95 and down xj, but it will work just fine. If he's right then thats what I have now and wouldn't do me much good. I made him order me another booster for a 96. I guess my question is, is he mistaken on what years fit what and is a 95 model booster the one I want or should I wait and put the 96 model on?

he needs to get his **** straight.

Booster 91-94 is the same, booster 95-01? is the same.

It needs to be the one with the plastic screw cover, not the metal cover with the strap thingy. It is MUCH bigger than yours so it should be obvious

This is my 1995 XJ brake booster. The one you are getting should look like this:

i got my master/booster/proportioning valve unit all as one piece from a 99 xj at the wreckers for a mere 30 bux (or less) as i got a few other parts and grouped them all together.

i did the install/mod to the brake rod myself and was done from start to finish in about an hour, including bench bleeding/wheel bleeding.

like night and day.

and yes, don't let him order the wrong one. you tell him what you want.

Hate to say it but the parts store guy is NOT there to know the different swaps you can do to your vehicle. His job is to sell you parts that are correct for your application.

its the booster in the middle and it makes all the difference i the world, like going from the old manual 4 whell drum brakes to modern 4wheel disc i also did the 30 dollar junkyard swap, took me longey to find a sharp drill bit in my tools than to do the swap. I run 38s and have no more of that holy **** brakes stop b4 i hit the car in front of me feeling best upgrade that you can do for the older xjs. igot the line fittings from the donor vechicle made it a lot easier with the swap

That's funny because I have a 2000 and I can't even stop my jeep with two atvs out back. I know the booster is good too.

i only said that because the parts store guy said the part he ordered fit a 95 and down cherokee, which doesn't make sense since drastic changes were in the 95 model year to the booster.

Thus he is not selling him the correct part for the application, and he needs to get his **** straight
