Take some advise, your design is flawed in many ways. I've seen better quality more heavy duty tire carriers fail. One reason carriers cost as much as they do is because of quality and sheer strength. Please buy a book and learn some basic engineering skills or buy a real carrier.

Now about those taillights.....
I felt the same way until I found Detours' Slimline tire carrier bumper. I ordered mine with all the goodies, and anxiously await its arrival.

I just can't get on board with rear tire carriers. I have never seen one I like.

Besides practicality it could be made to look pretty cool.

No Id just rather keep it inside the Jeep because even if someone could get it closer I would still have a problem with it obstructing my view. Like I said earlier there just not for me.

that's the beauty of jeeps, one thing that works for someone else won't work at all for others. For me personally, I need my cargo space. A spare takes up all the usable room, and a spare on the roof is not cool with me...that left a tire carrier to be the only option. I don't mind if it sticks out some and provides some extra protection, but it sure doesn't look like it sticks out that much from the pictures I've seen of the Detours

Here is the side profile. Way better than most.
Edit this is the slim line bumper so the tailbone might stickout even less

here's how the tailbone sits...
30" spare right after install...
33" MT spare...
It definitely puts it real close and honestly, I can still see out half the back window with the 33"
