Default Blown Rubicon Monotube. Company bellyup.

I have an 01 XJ with a Rustys Offroad 6 inch lift and 33's. Problem is my front left Rubicon monotube was blown when I purchased it a week ago and I found out Rubicon Express is belly up. I was told by countless 4 wheel stores that I should replace just the front pair since I am very low on money. This is my first 4x4 but I have been told only two companies had shocks that fit my lift. My shock specs are as follows from a website;

Rear RXJ507 ~ RUBICON MONOTUBE 26.7/16.2 L/L
Front RXJ603 ~ RUBICON MONOTUBE 30.2/18.4 S/L

I would love If I could get my hands on a replacement for the one that's blown. If not what are my options for replacements for the front that are As good if not better than what I had?

Warranty is void if I'm not the original owner but I contacted them anyways and hopefully they contact me and I can buy one. If not I will bump this post for further use.

Look at Bilstein BIL-BE5-A940-H8 (5~6" lift not as much travel) for the front and BIL-BE5-F166-H0 for the rear. Of course proper bump stop adjustment is necessary.

Bilstein 6100 series std body:

12" Travel
B46-0350 12 Standard Body 360/80 N 31.1 19.37 14mm Yellow
B46-1351 12 Standard Body 275/78 N 31.1 19.37 14mm Yellow
B46-1353 12 Standard Body 170/60 N 31.1 19.37 14mm Yellow

and there is always Fox 2.0 Emulsion Shocks or Rock Krawler's RRD 2.0 Emulsion.

Namaste,

Allen

any company that sells lifts that are the same height as yours will also have shocks for you. There are also replacements for YJs that will fit. just search around, I think jeepforum.com has a section that would help you

So if I have a 6.5 inch lift then any shocks that give 6.5 inch lift like bilstein 5150's will be fine... Right?

Yes! As long as they are for your vehicle and have the same specs in travel and extended/compressed lengths. Don't forget to properly set your bump stops.

Default 10 inch travel shocks or....

Im planning on buying 12" bilstein 5150's and purchasing their stud adapter so i don't lose shock length. My question is this, since im rather confused. I already have bar pin eliminators and was wondering if I'm better off buying the 10" travel versions and get the jks shock conversions which adds 1.10 inches of shock length. Am I benefitting with a 12" shock and stock stud mount or a 10" and the shock stud conversion
. What am I gaining or losing?

Because together with the bar pin eliminators and the stud convertor i'm adding 1.5 inches.

I have 6" of lift up front and I'm running the 12" 5150 with stud adapters and IRO bpa's and they are perfect on mine. I can stuff my 31's completely and I have approximately .25" of up travel left in the shock!

I would go with the 12" shock and properly set up bump stops. With the 10" shock you are losing the travel cycle length of the shock. Add limiting straps if you have too so the shock isn't the end all be all of the suspension droop. You could also call around and see if anyone has the RE (edelbrock made) one on the shelf.
