Block selection
I have concluded that i wish to build mid level stroker. Mid level being, not a maxed out racing stroker but a couple levels up from the bottom. Or call it stage 2 out of 3 stages of performance.
Any how, what im after is engine block info. Are the 4.0L blocks all created equal from 85-01? Perhaps someone has heard of a certain year or years that the blocks dont hold up to modifications very well? Im going with an aluminum head and all aftermarket internal parts. But as I shop for a good used block to build my engine off of, is there any red flags to watch out for? Are H.O and newer blocks better than pre-90's 4.0L blocks?
Obviously I'm to watch out for critical damage from parts failure and stuff like that.
Thank for any input you can give me

Some argue the renix blocks have higher nickle content that makes the blocks stronger and a stock cam that is better for strokers. Others argue the 96+ or 97+ blocks are stronger due to more ribbing in the block and main bearing cap girdles.
