Blazer Rear Swingout Tire Carrier
I've saw a couple threads on here about how it's easier to get the bronco II swing out tire carrier to work on an xj rather than one off of a blazer zr2 because of the shape of their body, but I was at the local jy today and there was an old body style s10 blazer like early 90's so more square like an xj and it had a rear tire carrier. I was wonderin if it worth goin back for an if it would work ill post a pic of it

The reason people use the Bronco carriers is because the mounting plates are flat and mount on the side. Because of how the Cherokee hatch opens you couldn't use one that wraps around like that. Much easier to just get a Bronco tire carrier. If you do that make sure to put plenty of bracing inside the quarter panel.

This type of carrier is only good for a stock size tire/wheel combo, larger/heavier ones they won't hold up to the weight. Some of the XJ's came with this type of mount also.

Okay ya I figured the curved mounts wouldn't work even if the obs style blazers were more square. I thought about fabing up some new mounts but I didn't think about it not bein able to hold bigger than a stock size. There's 3 at the yj I went to though so maybe if the price is right I'll get em an make tube doors out of em

With a lot of weight on these off road it will tear through the sheet metal. It happened to the ones that they came on that were reinforced for the carrier's when larger tires were placed on them. Then the dealers refused to do anything on the warranty about it, had a friend with a new Blazer that happened to.
