Default Bilstein 5100's and BPE

Going to try to make this as short winded as possible. Here goes.

01 xj. 3.5" lift. Ordering the 3-4" lift 5100's. I have a couple concerns/questions.

Can I order shocks without the bar pins?
Do I need BPE's at both ends?
I was going to do the sway bar BPE trick in the back but read that it, and several other aftermarket BPE's will cause the shock to bind. Is this right?

If my lift is 3.5" and the BPE gives me an inch of down travel, should I order a shorter shock to make sure I don't bottom my new shocks out? Is this 1" of down travel worth it over loosing the 1" up travel?

Really don't want to have to cut the brand new shock bushings up to get that bar pin out but I suppose if that's my only option then I gotta go with it. Thanks in advance.

Measure the distance from pin to pin in the static position.

Shocks are measured by collapsed length, extended length, and travel.

Go to Bilsteins site and study by part number the shock that best suits your needs.

For example, if pin to pin is 20 inches.......

You'll find a shock that has 9" of travel that will measure 15.64" by 24.30"......something like that.
Travel mid point will be 4.5" and should be at mid point when static.

Look for 5/8" bushings at each end......very common size and will fit perfectly. You can use a 1/2" to 5/8" sleeve at the BPE if you are using a 1/2" bolt.

Thanks. I've been researching the particular shocks for a couple months. I just didn't know if I could order a shock without the bar pin in there. 1 less step...

The 5125's are the universal shocks. They come in various lengths, valving and eye to eye or stem to eye. There is a PDF you can download on Bilstein's site that lists all the information and part numbers.

This is why it is always recommend to measure on here so you get the right ones. If you order vehicle specific ones they will come with factory mounting styles.
