It boils down to your driving style too. Are you a lead foot? Have you been driving long enough to when trouble is coming, etc. On a big budget we are going to say build it big, but in reality you don't need it. I recently sold my big lift for a small one and I am hppy to be in it.
If it will help you just send half of your budget to me and you won't feel bad about not building it big!! LOL

also you need to figure if you are going to run sway bars or not? I don't run them, and I think with only a 2.5in lift you don't need them. But that is your choice. some people have to have them.
No swaybars make a night and day difference off roading.
So if you have to have them you will need front diss connects.

yeah, id obviously like to have money left over for repairs/spares (just in case) and for extra fuel.
and i agree that just because you are spending abit of money on it, doesnt mean it has to be huge. i have a fear of rolling over so a LCG build would be nice.

You don't need long arms on an adventure rig. That is just silly.

Dont go to 36s for an expedition rig...these people must not think things through. With a proper suspension setup, 32s, lockers, chromo shafts, and a few other goodies youll be fine. Why run such big tires on an expedition rig? That would kill gas, put more stress on components....the last thing you want when your miles and miles out. Do a mild lift like we discussed at the beginning, quality lockers (arb), go ahead and upgrade shafts (don't want that being the weak link) a few engine upgrades (bored tb, intake, etc). Carry plenty of spare parts, invest in armor and a good roof rack to carry gear that wont fit in the cab.

Yeah I want an expedition more than a crawler rig. To me, there doesn't seem much point in spending 10k just so you can walk up an obstacle. Id rather make it a bit more of a challenge and have to work out how to vet through a trail rather than just bouncing and blasting through it and breaking an expensive rig
Especially in Australia, there is so much land to explore, and alot of it is very remote so I can't have my rig breaking down in the muddle of the Simpson desert. (sort of like death valley in the states)
