So after getting my 89 xj lifted 5.5'', all I have left to get are tarz and some new lcas.
Question is, 31s or 32s, without trimming.
And what AT tires would you reccomend as the best on and off road. will be 95% on road, but the other 5%, I would like them to be the best they can be in the mud, sand, and rocks, and well as have a good lifespan, and low noise.

I had a set of 33x12.50 BFG AT on my old bronco and they were awful in the mud. It might have been due to the fact that a bronco is nothing but a 6000 lb. cynder block on wheels but they just caked up and turned into slicks. Those tires are more for the concrete cowboy than for someone who wants to get in the mud.
A buddy of mine has some Nitto Terra Grapplers on an f-150 and they seem to do very well for him in the mud. Just my .02

bfg at by far. they last forever, grip good in most anything. i ran a lot of mud in a set of 32x11.5 and i got stuck twice but it wasnt the tire but lack of a snorkel lol

I used to run only mud grips but then it occured to me one day...that indeed 95% of my driving is not in mud. I just put my 3rd set of BFG A/T's on. My first set was on a Toyota. The last two have been on the Cherokee. I think I got close to 70,000 on the last set. The next tire I buy for my wife's Z71 will be the BFG's. I took the Cherokee up wet, rainy, steep Alabama clay hills this year hunting that 4wheelers couldn't get up. When I went down the hill I thought "there is no way I'll make it back up"...but she just dug down to something she could grab an kept going. The BFG A/T's are pricey, but well worth the money in the long run. I think they have the highest rating for wear on any A/T tire. 31 or 32's would depend on gear ratio. If stock, 31's.

BFGs ATS are good all around tire. They are not built for mud. That's why BFG has the KM2 for that. It all comes down to wheeling environment and how often you go. You did say your jeep mostly dd then get a tire for that. No point having a tire that's awesome at something when can't even drive it down the road. Duras are nice however where I live the sidewalls get punctured all the time because of rocks while wheeling. That's why most guys run tires with 3 ply sidewall I'd say 90% of guys in colorado run BFGs either ATS or KM2
