Quote: The reason you don't see many 4130 rear shafts is directly related to hardness at the bearing surfaces.

Also keep in mind that front axles are far more prone to failure than rear axles, so they benefit more from stronger alloy construction.
So what do you think, serious? Another 1541h shaft or the factory shaft. My theory is that the factory shaft will bend/twist before breaking. But if it twists, I won't know until it does break. I also feel that the stock shaft would twist/break before the 1541 Would snap

Yes. But summit has the same shafts listed as 1541H so do other places. many places just use the generic "alloy USA uses 4130 for all our jeep axles" but if you read more info in places. It says that they use both 1541H and 4130 depending on application. I would feel comfortable if alloy USA had it listed in the specs of each axle as opposed to just saying "we use 4130 in all our jeep axles" when that isn't true.

1541H is the right choice. Stock shafts is a step backwards.

The description you're seeing is incorrect, it's a generic boilerplate text from AlloyUSA. the shafts are 1541H.

Can you elaborate on this? I'm just trying to wrap my head around it.

That's the explanation I was given by a shaft manufacturer. The 1541H has a harder bearing surface than the other alloy shafts. 4140/4340 bearing surfaces don't hold up as well at the bearing location, but they do have higher tensile strength.

Quote: Man that is a quality obstacle. I haven't seen stuff like that since Arizona. Here in CT we have exactly zero offroad approved trails and orv areas. We have to find private property or sneak down a few power line roads and pretend to be lost.
Sorry for getting OT but I feel this.
I'm in MA and there are no ORV areas. The EPA police already confronted me before but I just shrugged it off.

Don't be fooled. That park is 3.5 hours from my home.I have one place within an hour if my house, and it sucks. I have to travel 2.5+ hours to really wheel.
