As a owner, and not as a person who knows a person that owns them, They do perform very well in the mud and clean out excellent. As far as noise is concerned, I am comparing to a set of nangking mud stars that I had before, they are not as loud as those were... which is a very common tread pattern that bfg, maxxis, pro comp and nitto use. I use my rig the same as how the OP says he uses his, trips of up 100+ miles sometimes with not problems and heavy wheeling. Everyone is entitled to state their opinion as they have the right too. I am stating a review however.

I love the Dick Cepek selection.. I had the Fun Country 33's on my last XJ and the best performing tire i've had by far! Offroad and on road! With that said, they are not very budget friendly.. If your on a budget, id say go with the Treadwright Guard Dogs! They are Retreads but dang good ones for sure. They lasted forever and ever on my old WJ DD/Trail jeep I had. Not joking, I drove 100 miles a day with that wj and went offroad on the weekends and they still had 75% tread after I sold the WJ a year later!! They were monsters in the ohio soil, which looks very similar to yours!

So tirerack.com doesn't deal in Cooper brand tires it appears. Is there a best way to tire shop for the lowest price on a specific tire? Or just start google shopping and cruise the web for the lowest on your desired size? I guess I should have them shipped to where I'll have them installed as well. Makes sense.

My recommendation would be the mickey Thompson baja claws. I have them and love them, no shortage of traction and they clean amazingly. The are not very loud on the road and the sidewall tread is a good benefit when you air your tires down on trails. Over all a very good performing tire. I got them a couple of years ago for under $1000 shipped to the front door through summit for some 35x12.50x15r

Found the SST Pro for $222 a piece on Ebay with free shipping, free mounting balancing and lugs if you buy wheels as well. Noticed they shipped out 20 miles from me. Visited their Ebay store and got a phone number for them, wonder if I can pick them up for even cheaper. Gonna call tomorrow.

Beware of eBay tire purchases a lot of them are out dated or very close to it, but if you can go check the date codes that would solve that problem.
Found this out the hard way I used to buy 4 or 5 sets of drag slicks a year mostly all from Summit or Jegs but one time found a good price elsewhere and bought a set same mfg. but hard as a rock 8 mo. out of date. I didn't even look till I made a few pass's on them and no traction, then started looking, had not saved $130 on the set but threw away almost $500.

Actually that can happen pretty much anywhere. When I bought my XJ the PO had put "new" Michelin's on 8 months earlier. I had a sidewall come apart maybe 4yrs after I bought it. Come to find out they were already 2yrs old when she bought them. Pays to check.

Damn, I would never think to check the date on them. Great advice. I'm checking out All Terrain Outfitters in Hamilton OH, my friend swear by them and many other wheelers around here praise their name to. Within the next month I should be lifted on new meats and have an XJ to put in some work with.

Bang for the buck spent, my favorites so far have been the mud claws.... I abused the hell out of em on road and even more off road.... rock mud and dirt and sand, solid performers and in this pic they have a tick over 50k on them...
I have replaced them with MasterCraft Courser MXT's and love them so far
They both clean out well and are good in every season... the mud claws didnt like snow on asphalt but did fine off road in snow aired down.... No complaints whatsoever so far with the mastercrafts

Wasn't referring to any brand in general but just an overall statement from someone who it happened to, also know first hand of others who have had this problem.
I buy 95 +% of all my tires personal/business from one dealer who I have done business with for over 30 yrs. They take very good care of me and price match anything on the web or off, with mounting/balancing included, free tire repair for life of tire.
