Best motor/trans mounts these days?
I see a lot of reviews on the Brown Dog mounts, but almost none on the M.O.R.E. Bombproof mounts or any of the other numerous almost identical mounts. (Rusty's, etc.)
Which ones do we all like the best? Is the full kit with the replacement brackets really necessary? Why would we need that?
Trans mount: What's good?
Hard mode: 5spd truck.

What makes the yellow Brown Dogs better than the M.O.R.E zinc-plated units?
Not questioning your choice, just wondering what makes all these things different. (And yellow is one of my least favorite things. :P )

Those Brown Dog brackets are freakin' solid, and they attach with several more screws than the stock brackets. The mounts are also beefy. If anybody ever gets them to fail, I would love to hear that story.
I went with stock rubber. I read a lot about the Daystar poly mount and just couldn't see any advantage there. Also, even though I went with the hard rubber Brown Dog engine mounts, I figured they were stiff enough that the transmission mount ought to be a little softer.
I have the full kit. I had read a horror story somewhere about the passenger side bolts failing and the bracket pulling out of the engine. The risk that would actually happen seemed pretty small, but since the engine was being swapped anyway, I figured why not just avoid that chance altogether forever and ever.

I did the full brown-dog motor mounts/brackets when I did my Stroker based on their reviews via thus forum. They are way more stout than the stock ones. I'm happy with them. I went with poly and they vibe a little at idle as expected.
Thanks guys.
Is the brackets shearing off a rust thing? Or just a repeated stress thing? Truck has 187k miles. For that matter, the blue one could probably stand mounts at 200k miles as well. Neither one has a speck of rust, though.

It's a "factory failed to tap the block bosses deep enough, so the bracket bolts don't seat fully, thus allowing the bracket a slight movement which over time stresses the bolt and causes it to shear" thing. This is addressed by the brown dog brackets having something like 7 bolts per side holding the brackets on as opposed to the factory 3. As I understand it, this problem occurs more in the older XJ models(maybe pre-94? definitely the Renix era).
