So....
I have a 98xj and want a different Power Plant...
I have a Stock 4.0 now and its not to bad, but if im going to drive this thing up and down the road every day, and hit the trails once in a while Im wondering if I should be thinking about going in a different direction other than rebuilding the ol'Trusty 4.0.
So..
I want better than stock MPG
I would Like Better than Stock Horse power and Torque (or at lease very similar... dont suggest stock 4 cyl guys)
Diesel is a good idea if it is efficient enough to ofset the higher price per gallon.
I would rebuild stock and do some form of SC/ Turbo if gains are to be had in the right ways.
I would Rebuild/Stroke a 4.0 if gains are to be had in the right ways..

I have read a ton about this, and every swap ends the same way with guys arguing about something off topic. and after all the info I still feel lost.

I know the 4.0 is a good platform
I know the Cherokee has some challenges for engine swaps
BUT I also know there has to be a great swap/rebuild upgrade path out there that can make my baby more of a gas sipper than a guzzler and still have some serious nuts to kick some *** off road and show the doubters what Jeeps are all about!
