My guess would be the Spectre intake. Thor also makes a similar kit.

Spectre also sells stand alone boxes as well. There is also the k&N apollo.

I got the idea from this guy, post 12.

I already had a cheap ebay intake, so all I needed was the exhaust tube and air filter. I have heard of people using the Airaid 701-433, so I would look for a filter around that size.

I have the Spectre. The Spectre and THOR intakes not only completely open up the area where the stock airbox resides, they also take real cold air from outside the engine bay. IMO the others that draw hot air from under the hood are pointless.
Personally I think the THOR looks a lot better, but it places the filter in a weird place inside the cowl. The Spectre puts the filter in a more accessible location inside the big pill above the valve cover. The only drawback is increased intake noise piped into the cabin. My Spectre has a strange whistle that I have almost eliminated by grinding away the edges around the cowl hole that obstruct air flow.
FYI, Advance Auto carries the Spectre for about the same price as everyone else, EXCEPT that you can use one of their discount codes to get it a lot cheaper. I got mine for $117 shipped. Keep in mind you also need a 3" hole saw (about $15), so figure that into the cost if you don't already have one.
If I were going the DIY route, I would do it right and buy decent parts from Silicone Intakes or some place similar instead of using plastic hardware store pipe that wasn't meant to be under the hood. Some of the redneck things I see people rig up around here are scary.

I also have the spectre. Its a nice kit. Ive had it for about 4 years and finally had to replace the rubber seal on the TB (8$) at autozone and replace one of my two filters (take them out and clean them, throw the other back in) Other than that, it works great... have been in alot of water/river crossings without drowning it, had snow piled on the hood, through rain storms and the dusty desert. With it and 24lb injectors my Stroker runs a bit lean so obviously plenty of air can get through there.
The K&N Apollo is nice and I think ide go that route if I did it DIY.

Does anyone offer a non-metallic or insulated tubing intake to keep it from absorbing all that heat soak from the engine. Seem like a bummer that all the cool air being reheated by the chrome plated tube, I guess Jet Hot coating would take care of it but all another $100 or so.

I use a THOR. It is the best.
Heat soak with the metal is soooo little and goes away anything above idle and 0 mph.
Even the stock plastic/rubber is the same.
I have measured these temps with digital probs and compared and know.
'Heat Soak' with metal intake tube is 'theoretical internet BS'.
Put a hood vent or hood lift and lose 20-50*F underhood temps.
Yep measured that too.

Here is a Vid of my engine shot with a seek thermal cam. The jeep has been sitting at idle for a bit. I have the Spectre intake and you can see the spectra is cool to the touch in the vid.. when you let it sit without idling it heats up a little, but once you start the jeep it cools right down in a few secs.
check out the vid and look at the spectre.
this is with it at idle
this is just sitting not running, the bottom of the Spectre is a little warm
but like I said cools down right when started.
