Default Best Hella Lights

Looking to put two Hella lights on the front of my XJ. Currently looking at the 700FF's. Is it worth it over the 500's or is there something better?

The more money you spend, the better light you will recieve.

I ran a pair of basic Hella 500 driving lights for a while. They were brighter than the stock headlights.

That's what I'm wondering, the 700s are supposed to be a little bigger than the 500s but have the same bulb. Wondering if it is worth going bigger since the light could be less focused due to the same bulb size.

After researching countless threads, I'm stuck. Here are my options:

Hella 500ff
Hella 700ff
KC Daylighters

I want something that will not rust and that will be durable. I don't need the brightest light on the planet. Also, I'm stuck on whether I should get fogs or driving lights. I will be mainly using them for regular driving and the occasional offroading. Here is my set up now, going to do a bumper mount either high or mid:

Thanks for any input guys, I know this can be a really repetitive question.

Stock lights from 1978.

Upgraded headlights with good bulbs will be brighter than a pair of 55w hella. They may seem brighter but that's bc the beam throws the light into a smaller area.

I got a pair of kc and they were pretty rusty. On my old wj i ran two 500s with 100watt bulbs from autozone and were plenty bright, and that was without a relay.

my hella 500s have no parts to rust except for the mounting hinge and hardware. and in the past 3-4 years they are still fine.

and yes. I only run sealed beam halogen lamps from 1978 with stock wiring now.

i had hella 500 ffs on my hood, then i went to the 700ffs and that was a huge difference. another benefit to the 700ffs is that they can withstand a higher wattage bulb. i stepped up to 100 watt xenon blue hella h3 bulb and that made them even more powerful.

upgrading headlights is an excellent idea. i am running ipf housings, hella 100 watt h4 xenon blue bulbs and the eautoworks harness and they out do my 700s by a few feet.

Just put an order in for some 700FFs. I will be sure to post up a review after trying them out. Thanks for the advice guys.
