Don't these housings have a big heat sink on the back to draw off the heat from the drivers so they don't cook themselves? If you put these warmers on the bottom of the housings, what's to keep them from cooking the drivers anyway?
Snow is water, which has excellent hear transfer properties.
You would only be running the warmers when it is below freezing and snowing hard enough, and I doubt they would produce enough heat to cook the actual diodes when the air temp is low.
I also wonder if they would produce enough heat to keep the lens clear of snow and ice. I mean hell, my radiator will pack FULL of snow in a blizzard, and that is worth a hot 4.0 warming it up...

Yep, they're connected to a switch on my dash that I flip when the light starts to diffuse and light up the canyon walls. The drivers definitely don't get hot enough on their own to shed the ice. I've had to resort to a sheet of cardboard between the grill and radiator before or the airflow over the engine is enough to keep the thermostat from opening. At least I don't have overheating issues I guess.
Doing dangerous things is OK and not dangerous if you're doing it somewhere that everyone does the same dangerous things.
The custom shop I bought these from probably know how to create these to where they dont harm other people's vision. I have yet to plug them in because they are doing it for me tomorrow, but if there are any issues, I will ask them to add a cut-off.

Well I am old.... so I will point this out, if you have illegal headlights and they cause an accident, you could be liable and sued. Something to consider.
I considered the Generic LED for my trail rig, but since I drive it home from the local trails I have decided not to.
I installed AutoPal's Housings on my daughters, they ended up getting water in them and reflection material washed off the inside of them - see below (next set I will seal the rubber boot better), also with generic higher wattage lights and Putco Harness I was not all that impressed with how bright they were before we sold the car.
So I ordered a set of Rampage Housings and Hella Bulbs, with a Putco Harness -
I prefer 55w bi-xenon HIDs in a properly retrofitted housing.
They are brighter than my friends Truck Lites, we're a bit cheaper, and produce enough heat to keep the headlight lens clear during snowstorms (very important!!). My friend can't drive more than 30 minutes through a blizzard without stopping to wipe his lights off.
Those will end up blinding everyone similar to having your brights on since it has no cut-off like Trucklites, JW, or HID Projectors.

Agreed with all the above. You could have just spent another $40-60 and had the TL's, and been done...they truly are plug and play.
I bought them off a forum member that was selling them awhile back. He stopped making them, as he offered them for too low of a price and it was not worth his time.
They look to be really good quality out of the box, in comparison to mine which took some DIY to get them working perfectly (sealing them up, etc).
A bit more expensive than the home-brew versions. If you are crafty, there is a home-brew guide to making your own floating around the forum.
Oh yeah, If you get anything with a real glass lens, make sure you get some sort of clear-bra film to protect them. I did not, and within a year I already had a small rock-chip that actually hit hard enough to form a pin-hole in the glass.
If you're looking for HID Retrofits go check out Kustom54lighting
He worked for me back in the day when I ran a custom lighting company. I quit to spend more time with family & sold the company to him. His prices are excellent & his attention to detail is top notch. He'll walk you through the decision making steps even if you know nothing about HID's. You wont be disappointed.
