Best Daily Driver/ Weekend warrior setup.
I'll start with the Jeep. 2001 XJ 4.0 4x4 automatic, stock except for the Air Raid cold air intake. I have a ARB front bumper I havn't installed yet. I havn't even seen it because i'm on deployment and my wife bought if for me. I will mostly use this jeep for daily driving and some long trips. I'm stationed in Camp Lejeune, NC and there aren't many nearby OHV parks so I won't be doing much offroading. I still plan on going off roading eventually but I want a setup that doesn't sacrifice too much of the gas milage and comfort. And doesn't sink too much into my pockets. I like the thought of LCG. But don't want to chop up the XJ too much.
Setup 1- 2" OME lift kit with Iceland offroad fender flares, 33" tires, 4.10 gearing, electronic lockers front and rear
setup2- RC 4.5 long arm lift kit w/ Iceland offroad fender flares, 35" tires, 4.56 gearing, electronic lockers front and rear, sye kit, Tom Wood shaft
setup 3- OME 2" lift, Iceland offroad fenders flares, 31" tires, Electronic lockers front and rear,
Anything else I'm missing in the setups? Also contiplating a ford 8.8 rear axle swap. Diff covers, Rock sliders, roof rack, rear bumper, and over the knuckle steering conversion, HD tie rods, and last but not least quick disconnects
Biggest thing is I don't want to waste my time and money changing setup so I rather have it down in paper and theory first. I previously had a 92 with 33" tires and 4.5" lift and 4.10 gearing but had to sell it because of a cross country move. LAST TIME I make that mistake. But it was great offroad but could have been more road friendly. Your advice would greatly appreciated and hopefully your experience could help me.

The higher you go and the bigger the tires, the harder it will be to maintain a good ride with XJ's. It will be your call in the end how much road comfort you are OK with losing versus off road readiness.
Also, the higher and bigger you go, the harder it will be on your mileage. SO you want to go as low as you dare, still being able to hit the trails you want. If the 4.5" and 33s you used to have were great for your style, I'd say go with that again and see what you can do to improve geometry and whatnot to make it drive better.
Setup 2 with 33 or 35 inch tires looks best to me, but that is based on my own preferences.
By the way, those ARB front bumpers are very bulky and heavy. If MPG is of big concern, you may consider downgrading to a lower profile winch bumper. Then again, once we start putting our rigs in the air, we can only be so picky about smaller MPG issues
