The bumper I posted is $465. For a well built tube winch bumper that is cheap. How hard is it to pick up a can of paint a spray it?

Look at rough country's winch bumper. The tabs are extra, but I've had mine for a couple years and I love it. I have a Smittybilt 10k bolted to it and it's held up to pulling a Ford F-350 dualy diesel out of sand. Best bumper I've had yet.

I run the rusty pre runner bumper. I think it needs more mounting points but haven't ripped it off yet. Rusty also charges an arm and a leg for shipping.

Any idea how limited the selection of winches is that fit this?

I'm running the evolution bumper with short tubing. I liked it because everything about it tucks up nice and tight. The only downside (upside for me) you have to trim the grill to let the winch sit on it, or he can build it a little different to avoid that.

Considering the Smittybilt bumper. Could someone check out this PDF and tell me if their mounting brackets also work out as the reinforcement mod for the steering box ? I know they do not provide the steering box spacer but I can get that part somewhere else.

I have that bumper on the front of mine. Install was relatively easy. Yes the steering box bolts go through the reinforcement. It's is tied in as well as any other bumper I have seen including jcr tie ins.

We just lowered all our prices on our Elite XJ bumpers. They come standard with 1/4" frame tie ins, grade 8 hardware and D-ring tabs with free shipping. Give them a look.

After some consideration I think this is the ticket for me. Seeking a bumper was due to needing a place to mount a winch but didn't even think about this. Do you have this personally ?
