Default Beginners shopping list?

Hi all. The RE 3.5 Superflex kit is installed, IRO's SYE and RE's TB, bracket & brace are ordered. Will likely go with 31" MTZ's with 15x8 steels. For those who don't know, we started with a stock '99 Classic.

Since I'm new to this, I'm hoping you all can provide some input based on your experiences. If you could do it all over again and you were building a 3.5" lifted DD with good/decent trail abilities, what would be on your shopping list?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Your gonna find with RE, the leafs will sit about 4.5-4.75 (thats how my 3.5 super ride sat). If your rocking a rear tire carrier it should weigh it down some. If not, your buttock will be in the the air, some care, some dont.. I ended up swapping my 3.5 coils for 4.5's to solve my problem, again some care, some dont.

Using taller coils came with a price too, in the form of adjustable upper and lower control arms.

Also, the added height might require a shackel relocation kit. (I needed one).

I really hated this kit and thought I made the wrong choice but after dailing it in (im paired with Blisteins) it rides great.

Im sitting about 5.5 on 31's. Thats with 1' spacer up front to compensate for the 1.5 I gained from the shackel reloaction kit.

Currently theres a vendor that had a shackel relo kit that adds NO lift, this wasnt available when I was building thou.

FYI, im no expert and dont claim to know ANYTHING expect what I have done!!
good luck bro!!

a lunchbox locker for the front would definitely be on my list. if you don't want to add lift, you can always load down the rear for a bit to break in the leaf springs

As soon as I started taking mine offroad, I knew I needed a winch. Now that I have one, I will try any mudhole as long as there's a decent sized tree in front of me.

What kind of wheeling do you plan on doing/ is available nearest you? T case skid, and a gas tank skid wouldn't hurt. Plus some recovery points front and rear. Sliders if you want to keep it pretty.
