So i've broken my stock plastic tray and want to get something sturdier. Anyone have a recommendation? I'm going to also install new wires and a new battery. Everyone raves about Optima so i might go that route. Thanks!

 

Optima make's a tray for their own battery I have 2 of them but you do pay a price for them. I have used them in my race cars for yrs and wanted a nice battery hold down for them. Summit and Jegs both sell them if you want to have a look see.

Might wanna do a little research on optima batteries. From personal experience installing many custom charging systems for local stereo shops they have a high fail rate. After warranting more then u can count, I try talking people into kinetic or die hard or have them go get optimas themselves so I don't have to deal with the warranty.

 

I have used them for years and it depends on how some Idiots use them is the problem big amps, lots of BOOM, BOOM. All you have to consider is how those kids use/abuse them usually not large enough or as many as needed to power what they have. Then with not nearly enough power to even recharge one once discharged properly, too small of an alt. and too cheap to pay for a 3-$500 one.

I have 3 in cars now newest one 2 1/2 yrs old and 12 yellow tops in service in a emergency comm. link powered by wind and solar for 6 yrs. here at my home now on this set.

I have had 2 failures over the years with them both were my Drag Race cars due to the nature of how they were used and charged at the race track, my fault not theirs.

My dad owns a alternator and starter rebuild shop. Everything is always set up with power to spare and battery banks when needed. I'm not an idiot or some kid off the street I was doing it for a living. Back when they came out ya they were great batteries but since they redesigned them I'd prefer a interstate over an optima.

 

Most were abused by the owners as with most batteries are, never said anything about your install. Very few I ever saw were really installed properly mostly because of the cost factor, don't get your panties in a wad.

 

yea i live in Vail Colorado at 9,200 ft and need something i can really count on. I've used interstates and im meh with them. some cold mornings they're a pain

 

Look into die hard platinum if you want a reliable battery for cold starts. That's all we use in our daily drivers did great in those Illinois winters and so far with the constant a/c down here in Florida.

 

From what I remember, the die hard platinum deep cycle is made by odyssey batteries. Very nice battery.

 

Yeah for the price you can't beat it and it bolts right in,Only other ones i have seen about the same price are universal ones.And like said anything that gets used hard and abused will give up sooner then you want it to.
