Default Bastard pack

I know its discussed a lot around here, but I am looking to lift the back of my 99xj. For the front I have already installed the 2 inch lift cups, but its time for the rear. I'm tired of looking like i have a huge load in the back lol. So I am only wanting 2-3 inches of lift in the rear, mainly because I dont want to have to get longer shocks and brake lines.

I am wanting to do a bastard pack using s10/blazer leafs. From what Ive read, I just need to use the top s10 leaf with the eyes cut off, under my top xj leaf. Correct? Or do I use a different configuration? In addition, with the s10 leaf center pin hole being larger, do I need to drill the rest of the xj leafs larger too? And use an S10 size center pin? Or do I leave them be and it will be ok?

Thanks!!

With the 3" of lift or close to it you will not need new brake lines you just drop the mounting bracket. Shocks are a different story you need new ones.

Did you use sway bar disconnects or extension's on the front?

You need shocks for a 3 inch lift.

They make extensions to make them longer to match your lift height or disconnects that adj. for height and you can pull a pin out to disconnect the SB for off road use for more flex.

For shocks you need a set for a 3" lift.

for the rear, i've used the main xj leaf. didn't even pull the bolts for that, just disassembled the pack while leaving the main on.
then i cut the eyes off the s-10 main and rebuilt the pack using all the s-10 leafs under the xj main.
you will have to drill only one xj leaf, the main to get the 3/8 center pin through.
use new hardware to assemble and that alone should get you 3 inches or a little more.
then if you want to go higher, use an extended shackle to get 5 plus.

yes you will need new shocks.

I disagree.. My girlfriends jeep has a 2" lift and her rear soft line is maxed out when lifted on a hoist or flexed.. Fronts are fine but I would get a YJ rear brake hose for the rear.

i'm sure he was only thinking of the front. you can get away with remounting the bracket lower. just make sure it's mounted to the body and not just floating or dmv will pull your plates.

or you can get some chev 1/2 ton front flex lines.

for the rear, yeah, get a yj flex line.

So I got the springs, seperated them, and cut off the eyes. New U-bolts have been ordered, and shocks on the way too. I need to drill all xj leafs' center pin hole to 3/8 correct? And my only issue now is some type of leaf clamp, just not sure what to get. As far as the rear brake line, looks like I will have to change it then. Thanks everyone for your input. Here is my progress so far.

spring steel is a real pita to drill.

i would just use the xj main and all the s-10 leafs under it. then all you have to drill is the xj main. you should get around 3 inches if you leave the overload spring out.
