Back end sits low
Hey guys I just finished my 2x4 to 4x4 conversion on my 91 sport. I added a 3" spacer/shackle lift and the back still sits lower than the front. Any thoughts? New shocks? Springs broke down? Thanks.

On a good leaf spring that is not straight or at a negative arch it will lift you 3". A old leaf spring can sag up to 2" or more if its at a negative arch. So if its sagged 2-3" it will basically bring it back up to stock height.
Leafs are probably worn. Shocks have nothing to do with ride height. As said you net half of the added shackle length in actual lift height. You could try grabbing a set of stock leafs off a wrecked low mileage xj (if you can find some) Your best bet though is to but some 1 1/2" to 2" lift springs. They may not be cheap but, they will fix the problem and you will know you have new leafs, not just getting by on 20+ year old leafs.

you could take out a couple lower xj leafs and replace them with a couple s-10 leafs.
if you want the whole 3.5-4.5 inches, you could use all the s-10 leafs with the main eyes cut off and insert them under your stock xj main...

My leafs were inverted an inch or so. Just bought 2 2" ome leaf spring packs and said f it to the old ones. Can't wait for the install but it was worth the money. They are beautiful
Any of you guys know off the top of your head if the rear leafs are the same on the 2 wheel drive and the four wheel drive? I have the 4x4 donor and I could swap the rear springs. They look the same but could the 4x4 springs be more stiff? Just a thought.
