yeah, you're right. jk owners like to brag but not spend their money when the second best will do.

and yes to the 231/300 doubler. it's the most common setup and can work great, especially if you swap out the jeep 231 internals to the hd chain setup and maybe even a 4:1 kit.
but a simple stock 231/300 is still an awesome setup that just makes you giggle when you wheel it.

Ya I think a stock np231/d300 doubler will do just fine for my uses. Maybe a 4:1 kit in the 231 later on but for now all my "spare" money is going in these axles haha.

Only downside to a doubler in a xj is the floor pan will need to be cut for clearance and new sheet metal humped over it pretty much.

I think I got a couple pieces of scrap I can beat to shape and weld on. As long as I can get the back seats back in then everything is a ok haha.

Heres a few http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/jeep-...-doublers.html How much of the floor you gotta cut depends what doubler combo you use and if you clock the t case up or down. Its better for ground clearance to clock it up but you got a bigger hole in the floor to mess with then.
