Axle shim install dilemma
So, i put on some shims today onto my rusty's 4.5" rear leafpack, and had no problems doing it until it came to tightening the Center pins. while tightening the nuts, i busted a thread on the bolt, so i couldn't tighten it much more, so i put another nut over it and tightened them together. my only concern is that even after cutting the remainder of the center pin, would the nuts protrude too far from the top of the leaf pack? they are protruding 3/4 of an inch from the leaf spring. Thanks!

You should be fine. At 3/4" the odds of it coming in contact with anything are minimal. Keep an eye on it. If it gives you problems, just replace it later.
