How hard you beating those sockets with the hammer. Tried that last night (didn't feel like messing with press) didn't work. Joints didnt even budge.

I have bent one using a press. Put to much pressure on it before applying heat

I had cv shafts in my xj but one of the boots got a tiny slit in it offroad. It was hard to see so I didn't know it was there. Where I wheel there is a lot of water so the cv got washed out and started popping... I replaced it with u joint shafts so I don't have to deal with it

If you buy spicer u joints for all your shafts the ones that are non greasable you wont have many failures as they are pretty strong that the chormoly axles insist on them with there shafts for full warranty,I have them in all my shafts and yet to pop one yet and there the cheaper spicers that have the grease zerts.

Although it will then require a grinder to swap one, some guys will tack weld the cap to the ear so if it does fail it won't come apart and trash the shaft.

Just bring spare shafts. When the U Joint go's on a D30 it usually rips off the ears of the shaft making it unrepairable.

Here's a older weaker shaft I ruined with a autozone U Joint. Been running spicers in 98 shafts since then with no issues.

Yea I kept this as a reminder lol

So where do you get spicer u joints. Seen them online at 4wd.com. $40 for them. Any place cheaper? For that price spend the extra twenty and cv axle from autozone. Lifetime warranty. Makes sense to me
