Hey guys and gals im planning doing a 1 ton swap this summer on my 88 Xj
I know in going with a high pinion 60 in the front
But I'm stuck on what to choose for a rear
I have a 14 bolt on hand but I'm not sure if I want to use it because of the size of the diff :s

My question is what diff is going to give me the most clearance.

I'm going with a 4 inch lift long arm
4:88 and 37s locked front and back
What's your opinions ??

a shaved 14B has more clearance under the diff then a stock JK D44 rear. About 1/2" more clear.

4.56, but thats only because its not an xj. my first gear and transfer case setup is geared real low, and I don't have an overdrive.

here is the current build thread.

probably gonna nix it and go to pirate with it and fix all the pics when i start getting stuff done to it again.

This is good info. Funny then how I see so many people saying that even 37's are too small for a 14b, it will drag over speed bumps. Obviously that is not the case with this statement. Good info!

Well do keep in mind that the 14B will have a |_| shaped bottom while the D44 will have more of a U shapped. so the D44 has better overall clearance where as the 14B has more clear dead center.
