Default ax15 with 3.55?

I have 30's ( actual 31 height ) and 307's with the 5 speed, if I go 32's witch I imagine if I get the same tire it will be 32 1/2 -33 will 3.55 be good? I ask because if stock guys have to go 3.55 to 4.10 for 32-33 then I should only have to go 3.07 to 3.55

Depends on what you want to do with your Cherokee. My AX 15 with 3.07s and 28 inch tires was almost unusable on trails and not that good on roads.
If you aren't planning on lifting and adding taller tires, going from 3.07 to 3.55 will help allot, but I would go 4.10 - 4.56, but I like power.

Im going to put a 5.5 iro la lift on, with 32's

I was curious because if the auto guys have to go from 3.55 to 4.10 for there gearing due to the ratios in an auto

I should be able to go from 3:07 to 3.55 and get the same results? When I went wheeling at rauch creel with my 30's I had no problems?

I'm running 3.07 with 33s right now. Whenever I go on trails have to put it in 4lo keep it in second gear. Sometimes go to 1st depending on what I'm driving up. When the time comes I'm gearing with 4.88s. 3.55s will help you some but not enough to make it swapping axles out IMO. While on highway sometimes go to 5th if going down hill but for the most part keep it in 4th.

Yah I barely use 5th unless its dead flat, I can get a 8.25 with 3.55 and get two upgrades at once, and just go 3.55 with the front, I think 3.70 is the deepest im going, that's all going to be done when I get lockers front and rear and install my lift...its going to be a long...long...long... install haha

^This. I'm on 32's with the 5-speed and with low range its really not that bad. The math says that 3.55's behind the 5-speed bring the truck practically back to stock specs but I guess the stock format isn't exactly a rock crawler. I still think its absurd to consider 4.10's for 31's if you're driving this on the hwy or daily use. You AW4 guys can't really compare gears to the 5-speeds. I'd suggest 3.73 MAX for 33 and below; IF you're still street driving it too.

That's what I figured I just needed some reaffirmation on that, so ill stick with 3.55's 32-33 will be my max tire no matter what as this is not really a dd but I do travel 5+ hours one way to work in the winter

it all goes down to rpm, all you need to do with 3.07s is keep it in 3rd a little longer than what normally would. i know guys that are running 4.10, 4.56 gearing and i have to slow down for them when we are driving on the highway. also with my jeep if really watch how i shift gears i can get over 300 miles per tank... if you plan on gearing its usually better to go a little deeper than what you want

It is not worth regearing for 3.55 gears over 3.07s. If you are going to spend the money I would get 4.10s or 4.56s especially if you are going to go with larger tires down the road.

32 is the max for me, And because I have a 5spd and different ratios compared to a auto I think 373 will be the best and the max

Well good luck to ya. Don't know anyone who has geared 3.73s that use their jeep for wheeling. It's atleast 4.10s even with 31s that I've seen

Ok i dont understand you guys with 5 speed 4.0's saying you have lost 5th gear? or you're underpowered? I'm on 31's with 2.5 and the stock 4.10's and its not that bad. 3.55 should be absolutely fine for 33's. Matter of fact the 3.07's will work. I've rode in a xj with 4.0 and ax15 on 32's on stock gears and it did absolutely fine. Pulls like a charm.
