my 98 xj tranny was just rebuilt and is fine in city driving. Took a trip to mountains 150 miles and fluid all over. Not our dipstick because it is too clean up there. A lot of fluid in front of bell housing on engine by starter. Do I have a problem?? Please help

How is your fluid level? My assumption is most of the instances of overflowing fluid is caused by overfilling it. Check it hot while idling in neutral or park. Try to get it halfway between the low and high marks in the OK range on the dipstick, rather than filled to the top of the OK range.

Also, if people are having issues with puking fluid on long hills and the level is OK, check to be sure the torque converter is actually locking up. If it's steep enough that you need to dip in to the throttle so much so that it won't stay locked, try downshifting to 3. In 3 it'll allow you to give it quite a bit more throttle before it unlocks the TC. Otherwise you're working the TC hard in 4th with it unlocked, generating lots of heat. IIRC, the the engine speed is actually a little lower in 3rd with the TC locked than it is in 4th with it unlocked.
