Yea the 1990 has internal slave cylinder. I see where everyone prefers external. Why is the external preferred?

cause when the external slave ****s the bed its a matter of 2 bolts to replace, the internal involves removing the whole transmission

I dunno how far you've gotten, but I can't believe there's a difference in the TPS between Manual and Auto trans. I'd leave it, give it a go, and only change it if there's a specific problem.

There is indeed a difference, the auto has two 3wire pig tails coming off of it, where as the manual only has a single 3 wire connector. Also from talking to those who have done this conversion it will idle but when it come to driving all have had stalling issues because the TPS is looking for a signal from the auto to send to the computer but seeing as there is no longer the auto it doesnt get the signal and shuts down.

either way i currently have the TPS on order as i found it much cheaper online.

as for progress the trans is all bolted in but i wanted to change out the old input/output seals in the transfer case then we got dumped in snow with -10*C temps which is to cold for me to bother with so things have been put on hold for the past week but its warming up and back to the all familiar rain so things should be getting finished up soon.

God damn do i procrastinate.

well small update im damn near finished but well that whole procrastination thing, for the clutch hydraulics seeing as i was going '89 hydraulics mated to a '94+ external slave. The original plan was to stay as stock as possible for ease of replacement when out in the middle of no where, meaning keep the hard line from an '89 and use a fitting from AdvancedAdapters to mate it to the plastic oring setup from the '95 slave, well no such luck finding a union adapter to go from -3 to 7/16 inverted or a new oem replacement line, stupid local parts shops. So i have gone with an 7/16 to -3 male fitting at the master and run a steel braided line.

realistically ive got less than a 5 hours of work left, but procrastination and crappy weather ......and beer slow things down. On the upside though spring seems to have arrived finally so things should come together.

For those who may have been following this for answers, im sorry but ill try to pull it together.

If anyone is actually reading this....... and you have an ax15 from the factory could you look under your dash and take a look and see if there is a clutch pedal spring.....and if so where does it attach to?, i grabbed it when i was ordering my parts but dont have the slightest clue where to attach it....if not oh well i suppose i will be able to absorb the whopping $1 loss

I want to do this too when the time comes, and when it does, I will hopefully be able to buy a donor rig. Good luck!

Thank you very much ill have to take a look under there today and see if i can get it figured out now that i know roughly where things go.

EDIT - Well i do indeed have the little hole at the top of the frame.......however no holes what so ever on the pedal arm itself, oh well the pedal doesnt have much freeplay in it any way so ill just do without. If i decide to down the road its not a lot of work to put a couple holes in the arm if need be.

Thanks again hank.

Flywheel i used from a renix era as they are different from the HOs that i looked at when i was at the wrecker, so i used one from a 90.....i was lucky it was the only one there out of a 100 or so and damn near new.

CPS I will be reusing the one i had with my automatic as the renix era cherokees used the same CPS for auto and standard

Clutch kit i grabbed for an 89 i believe, ill look and see if i can find a receipt to clarify that

Ok so question, when i tried to start it last week....but didnt as i fogot to put in the CPS. Anyway went to pull the key out and no such luck, when i removed the auto i thought removing the park interlock cable would eliminate the park lock out feature which prevents key removal when its not in park, well i was wrong. So does anyone have a diagram of the ignition tumbler or a picture of what i have to remove, i guessing just a pin or a spring or something like that.

thanks

did you figure out this yet, theres a rod on the side of the column that the cable went to behind a plastic cover that needs to be removed i took my column apart and it actually needs to be taken out because the piece that covers it slide off torwd the firewall end, i ended up just breaking the cover and taking the rod out for now, im gunna get the column out of the one i got my trans out of at some point mines worn out anyway.
