Trying to decide if I want to purchase an aussie locker for my XJ. I hate going wheeling and having the tire that has no traction be the one thats spinning. I dont have the money for air lockers or anything like that, so I found the aussie.
Does anyone have the D30 locker? How does it do on the road? Is the handling compromised? Let me know!

Aussie is awesome! I had an aussie in the rear. (have new axles now) and loved it! many people in my wheelin group have them up front, and they are happy with the performance. Best bang for the buck! I say get one.

i used to have aussies front and rear in my dana 30 and 8.25. they are AWESOME lockers and they are cheap. they blow lockrite out of the water. i would recomend these lockers to anyone. i know a lot of people that run them and love them. they are very easy to install also. took me about 5 minutes to instal my rear one (axle was pulled out of jeep though)

just installed aussie in my front hp d30 this weekend and not compromised at all. Deff worth it, steering is tight in 4wd, and no slips, just like a real locker, went in pretty good, very small area, but would really recommend.

Do the aussie lockers have the typical "clunk" when turning on the road that I read is typical of auto lockers?

It's not really a clunk, it's more of a click click click..... sound lol. But mine do clunk when I put it in gear.Originally Posted by Northwoods Snowman

Have you ever ran lockright lockers? I have one and I like it. It locks right away when put in 4wd and never slips at all. It does make road noise. If you actually have run the lockrights too your opinion would be thankful. Lol

Just interested in knowing this, obviously the locker will lock the rear wheels together when it should, so does this mean I would be able to do a 2 wheel burnout? Or will the Jeep go boom? (Just curious)

I have mine in the front. And I love it. It does great in the snow. Never had a problem but I heard if they are in the rear axle they can make it hard for you to handle.Originally Posted by wakeboarderNH
how do they act when street driving in 4wd? like in the snow?

look into the spartan I just put one in my front and I love it quiet in the road extremely easy to install but when you put it in 4wd the traction is amazing the front axle pulls me over obstacles with ease and i got it from waynehartwig off pirate 4x4 for a little over $200 shipped

the rear is more useful as going up a hill the weight is transferred to the rear tires.Originally Posted by ivie_2006
so what would be more productive front or rear? and is it going to hassel the everyday driver?
i have a detroit in mine and the locker doesnt do bad on road unless i floor it in a corner which isnt good in a lifted jeep anyways lol
