I'd go ARB in the rear, as stated in many other posts you've got the compressor. I've got a Yukon Zip in my D30 & an ARB in the 8.25. Great setup. On when you want them to be & off (open diff) when you don't.

If you do a lot of street driving go with an arb, if its mostly off road you cant beat a Detroit for durability and a soild lock up every time, they can be a bit of a pain on the street if you see wet or icy conditions and lock up when when you don't want it to. just my .02

I guess I'm going with everyone else on here, the Detroit TruTrac isn't a locker, but it works well enough as long as the tires stay on the ground which isn't always the case when on serious trails. The ARB is a locker, and if installed properly with the air lines routed to protect them, it gives you the best of both worlds. Locked when needed and open when a locker isn't wanted.

Well....I pulled the trigger on a rear ARB and a 12ft stainless air
Line...so it will have front and rear selectable lockers.

What did the stainless line cost?

Thoughts on another idea?
 

I am in the same dilemma. I have an ARB up front already with the compressor of course. I also have the Country version so I have a TruTrak in the rear and it does not get the job done plain and simple.

I am thinking about an Eaton electric locker for the rear primarily due to having an alternative system should the compressor or lines loose pressure to the front locker. This way I should always have one of the two systems functioning.

Your thoughts and comments please.

Don't forget about OX, they are fantastic

If you have a C8.25 rearend you will have a hard time finding a E-Locker, nobody makes one. If you are wanting a selectable locker you are limited to a Air Locker.

You are wrong, look at OX its selectable it can be opperated by air or electric or mechanical lever or even a simple " drive away lock" if you don't want any of that. On top of it all as the last guy asked, he's afraid if one system fails he wants another. Here Ya go! Plus if even that fails you have a backup with the drive away lock. ARB can't do that...
I have an OX in my 8.25 with the electric actuator, it's awesome. Switch off, open axle. Flip the switch instant solid locker.

I too vote for the ARB, I only have experience with Spartan Lockers. SHOOT besides ground clearance lockers are a great investment. My last outing i was keeping up with xjs with 33's and 4.5" open open. My little front and rear spartans got me through, just had to pick a different line with my ground clearance limit.

Side note not a fan of the harshness of my rear spartan on the street. Thats why I have an ARB for the rear when I lift. Already mounted in a housing with 4.56 gears.
