That measures out to a 32x11x16 which you won't fit on a stock suspension without a decent bit of cutting.

Yeah, I put 245/75R16's on mine with stock suspension and stock Liberty wheels and they rubbed pretty bad just turning. Soft 8's would be worse, and add a larger tire and NO WAY.

I am running 265/75-16s on 16x8 Black Rock soft 8 wheels with 4.25" BS on my 2 door 88XJ. I've done a full cut and fold on the fenders but ZERO lift. There is no rubbing on the street and minimal rubbing on the trail.

Default I did it!!

I know this forum is way old. but i have factory 96 grand cherokee wheels and i only rub on full lock. I have cut the rear fenders to remove the fender flare mount holes and plan to cut the front after i get some other engine fixings done. but it can be done and i like the way it looks and handles. No pics on computer yet but they will come if needed lol. I know this post is long over but I am new here and wanted to chime in!

There is a big difference in the fender size of a ZJ and XJ. You can fit 31s on a ZJ with no lift and they fit, 29s are about it for a XJ.

I don't think 29's are the limit...

On stock wheels, they would be fine until you wanted to go wheeling, but even like it is, it works fine for moving around my property. Those are 33x9.5's on 15x8 wheels with 3.75" backspacing on a bone stock 90 XJ.

Can you even turn the steering wheel without rubbing and looks like a pothole would have you tearing the flares off. Way back when I ran 235s on mine which are roughly 29" and they rubbed turning and on any decent rut, sway bar still connected.

I have an 88 xj with 96 zj wheels. I will up load pick soon, have rear fenders trimmed and not front yet. I would not have a zj due to I want two wheel and four wheel on my demand not the transfer case demand.

Here it is folks, this is before I cut the rear fenders. I only rubbed on turns on the rear, and full lock on steering wheel I rub a lil on the sway bar and inner fender. I plan to cut front fender and probly years from now i will do 3 inch add a leaf for better articulation when wheeling on rocks. for now it will act as a dd and be good for winter here in OK.

Haha I tried putting 265's on mine with 2" of lift. I started to lower the jack and the tire pushed the stock bumper forward and the fender flare up. Not a good idea with stock fenders.
