Anyone running Detroit TrueTrac in the front?
Thinking about putting a Detroit TrueTrac LSD in my dana30.
In my research I have heard conflicting opinions about running the truetrac up front. I have heard it will work fine, and will not effect the turning at all, and will give noticeable added traction . I have also heard it will effect turning radius as well as traction in snow or slick damp weather..
In my wife's XJ we put a truetrac in the rear and find it to really work well, I am just not sure if there will be any issues running up front...
If anyone is running a Detroit TrueTrac up front please let me know.
Thanks!!!

I hated the one I had but I went from a locker to it so I was used to both tires actually pulling. They work OK if both tires are on the ground and they don't like big tires. Mine worked as good as an open diff offroad. On the road I never knew it was there. Not much snow and ice here but in rain I didn't notice it.

I would imagine it depends on what year your XJ is. I couldn't find it in your signature nor your original post.
I have an 89 and use an automatic locker. I do not feel it one bit when in 2wd and most definitely feel it in 4wd.

Just curious, why would the year matter?
Thanks.

Year doesn't matter. I have researched them and found them to be amazing in snow and mud, rocks are the weak point compared to an auto locker. They are invisible in 2wd since the transfer case doesn't power the axle and the truetrac is designed to counter act the power to the wheels based on the resistance each one is under.

Yeah actually, year does matter.
If you have the CAD, run an automatic locker you will not feel it in 2wd.
If you do not have the CAD and run an automatic locker you will feel it some in 2wd.
This also applies to the various other limited slip / lockers out there.
Beings I have zero experience with the truetrack I cannot say how it will behave with your non-CAD front axle.
