I had 31's on stock height xj. Rear only rubbed on hard bumps. Also had worn leafs though. Fronts rubbed on control arms at full lock. That's normal street driving.

What year was your xj? I hear that the newer ones can't get away with 31s on a stock lift like pre 97 models. I have a 99. I would like to go with 31s but I really don't want to cut and fold or anything like that. That's why I was thinking 265 70 15s

265 70 15s are the height of 30s but they are 10.4 inches wide while 30s are only 9.5 inches wide

you can find 30's at 10.5 width

also, I had 30s on stock rims and they rubbed on the control arms and cut my turning radius down a lot. It was manageable, but running 3.75 bs rims now and theyre money

Get rid of all that ABS junk. That should be on the list of to-dos.

I live in Colorado. No ABS is not a big deal as long as you don't drive like an idiot. ABS is just a factory fix to help bad drivers in the snow that don't know how to drive is slick conditions. Wait until you want to get rid of that crappy d35 in the rear or if you have to bleed your lines for anything. The XJ ABS has been known to be "fidgety" to put it nicely.

Sam you said you had a base xj... so your Gage cluster has not tach or gages just lights? the 1st thing I would do before i do anything else would be to do a cluster swap so you have a tach and all Gages with no lights.... very easy and cheap to do...

it actually came with full gauges stock. its weird cuz i have a base SE model, no power anything, not even a cassette deck, but it has abs, a factory trailer hitch, and factory skid plates all around.

lol i hear ya. if i decide to go with 31s i might just do a 2" lift but nothing more. if i can get away with just taking of the flares then ill probably do that. i question 31s cuz some people have said that ill be fine on a stock lift and others have said ill rub like crazy. if i knew for sure i would be ok, then i would get 31s no questions asked

From the research I've done,I keep reading that they will rub big time. I don't really want to trim or get rid of the flares
Well I have 30x9.5 and they rub a little on crager soft 8s, so if you go wider it will prob rub
