Any update on this?

How'd it work out with those changes?

I am in the same boat and need to adjust my caster as well.

Yeah. I adjusted according to the chart and things are a lot better. I haven't completed my alignment yet. Got busy. But it's initial test drive was 100x better than before. So I'm thinking that was 99% of my problem. Good luck!

Yea, just did mine last night using the same guide and made shims from the template I found here on the forum. MUCH better than before. I found that my caster was 5.8* (measured off the coverplate bolts) and toe was 3/4" toe-in I set the caster to 3.2* (used 3 1/8" shims each side - it didn't have any shims in it to begin with) and toe to 1/8" in.

That's strange. Usually, a larger castor angle will make the Jeep track straighter. I find that I can't get enough castor and keep a good pinion angle.

So, according to the chart on this page http://jeep-xj.info/HowtoAlignment.htm stock caster measured off the coverplate bolts should be 87.5 or 2.5 = True Caster (Hi Pinion) of 6.5

Lifting the XJ 3", my caster measured off the coverplate bolts was 5.8 ~ = 3.0 True Caster. Installing the shims in the LCA brought the caster at the coverplate bolts back to 3.2 = 6.0 True Caster. So, in effect it did bring the True Caster from 3.0 back up to 6.0 (higher caster as you describe).
