Default Another regear question (sorry)

Hello,

So I am going to go get my 1997 Manual trans XJ regeared some time next week. I'll be running 32" (31.46" diameter). But I still haven't fully decided on 4.56 or 4.10. So I do about half and half city and highway, I wanted to go with 4.56 because of the extra pull and possibility go with larger tires. But will the 4.56 put me a ridiculously high RPM on the highway or will my engine be fine with it? I will be driving for hours on end to get to the trails I wheel.

I also run 32's on my 5 speed. Ever since I've swapped an 8.25 axle with 3.55 gears in, she runs great on the Highway. If you plan on going to a 35" tire then go for 4.56 gear, other wise 4.10 will be perfect for 32" or 33" tires. I also plan on going with 4.10 gears in the near future.

Go 4.10s with the manual, especially since you have a decent amount of highway use.

oh ya it will still be great, especially with 4lo. I have two friends with manuals on 33s. One has the factory 3.07 gears and the other has 3.55s from an auto.

The one with 3.07s struggles. He stalls a lot because of the gears, my other friend with 3.55s does way better. 4.10s would be perfect, honestly you might think they're too deep, but that's just an excuse for bigger meats
