Default Another maybe stupid WJ knuckle swap ?

Ok, I cannot firgure out why people don't just use WJ hubs on the WJ to XJ knuckle swap. I have found adapter for 5 on 5 to 5 on 4.5 adapters for $73 plus shipping. Is there any reason not to just use WJ hubs, brakes and all?

Hubs? I assume you mean unit bearings.

There is a height difference in the unit bearing. It will cause the u-joint to be out of line with the ball joints. Not good ju-ju.

You can buy the unit bearings you need and do it right for a few bucks more than the adapters will cost.

^^^you are correct. The weld on adapter plate for the WJ knuckle will line everything thing up correctly.

Ok, good enough, I couldn't seem to find a clear answer on it, now will my 95 hubs work the same as the 99, I see a lot of people use 99 hubs.

To do the WJ knuckle swap correctly you should have:

WJ knuckles, rotors, calipers, brackets, and TREs from a '99-03.
JKS flange spacers, tie rod, draglink, jamb nuts, over axle trac bar bracket, and sway bar relocation brackets for the axle.
Spicer ball joint kit for '99 WJ, includes upper and lower joints and nuts. (Part #706944X) x2.
Goferit Offroad tierod flip inserts x3
'99 XJ unit bearings
Redrill WJ rotors to 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern
1/4" caliper bracket spacers to match the 1/4" JKS flange spacers.

All this to have nice OTK Cross over steering and upgraded brakes. This is exactly how I did mine.

99 bearings should work. I''ve always heard 01 but I see other using them.

Here ya go.

Not sure about that one. I don't see why not though. I believe the 95 & 99 Hubs are the same, But I may be wrong on that one. So someone please correct me if I am. I am almost positive there is no difference between the two.

Yeah I have read that build, but couldn't find out exactly why no one just uses the WJ hubs, and also if my 95 hubs will work since nothing is wrong with them. I have the spacers already, just unsure of my self welding them on since it's cast to steel.

I think im gonna do everything you siad. I to am considering upgrading to better brakes for the front but im liking how you can knock two birds out with one stone and get better steering aswell when doing the brake upgrade. But this will be put off until I can acquire everything over time.

Here's another list from a very reputable source:

everyone is making way to big a deal of this WJ swap

THESE ARE THE PARTS YOU NEED (copied from yossarian)
-Knuckles from any WJ
-WJ Calipers, mounting brackets, rotors & pads
-WJ ball joint set, though just the uppers will work (lowers are same as XJ)
-A hub flange spacer (the JKS spacer everyone talks about) <-YOU NEED THIS
-99.5+ XJ hub

those are the parts you need, theres no going around it. get these parts, put them on and be on your merry way

You have to have the 99.5+ Unit Bearing.

The part number for a 99-2001 bearing is #513158

The part number for a old-1998 bearing is #513084

They're different.

MAKE SURE YOU USE THE SPACER!
