Alternator Question
What does one do to protect the alternator from shorting out when submerged in water for short period of time? I'm not too happy with the placement of it...

A "marine" alternator is one equipped with spark arrestor screens, IAW ABYC and USCG guidelines and regulations.
Moving it up is a good solution. Implementing a sheet metal splash shield (leave a few inches between it and the alternator for cooling airflow) is also workable.

Please post a link to that thread in this thread if you don't mind. I'd like to see the fabrication steps you took to accomplish it. The AC compressor was removed in my Comanche, and had a pulley bracket fashioned to make up for the missing compressor. Pic in garage photos. Seems to me, the dimensions are close so I was thinking it shouldn't be a big issue.
